
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2026 (TPDA2026). This award honors individuals, groups, or organizations whose outstanding public diplomacy activities have significantly enhanced Thailand’s global reputation.
The objectives of the TPDA2026
- To honor individuals, groups, or organizations who have significantly contributed to building international recognition, prestige, and appreciation for Thailand, its people, and Thai culture.
- To provide encouragement and support to the laureates, enabling them to further their endeavors and serve as exemplary models for others.
- To foster awareness among individuals, groups, and organizations regarding their potential contribution to public diplomacy, thereby strengthening people-to-people relations.
Award Details and Nomination Guidelines
1. Number of Awards
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation will confer up to three TPDA2026 awards to individuals, groups, or organizations of Thai and/or foreign nationality.
2. Qualifications of the Nominee
2.1 Thai or foreign individuals, groups, or organizations who have conducted activities in fields such as humanitarianism, public service, peace, human rights, culture, sports, mass media and digital media, creative economy, innovation, and sustainable development. Such activities must have significantly enhanced Thailand’s reputation.
2.2 The nominee must have a clean record and no history of misconduct.
3. Eligible Nominators
3.1 Individuals, groups, or organizations in No. 2.1 may nominate themselves or others. In the case of nominating others, the nominator must obtain the nominee’s explicit consent.
3.2 Royal Thai Embassies, Permanent Missions, and Consulates-General are also eligible to submit nominations.
4. Award Details
4.1 Permanent inscription of the recipient’s name on the “Goodwill” trophy, displayed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Ayudhya Road.
4.2 Inscription of the recipient’s name on a commemorative plaque at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Ayudhya Road.
4.3 A replica trophy bearing the recipient’s name, to be given to the recipient.
4.4 Certificate of recognition.
4.5 Cash prize of 300,000 Baht per award.
5. Selection Process
The TPDA2026 Selection Sub-committee, comprising 10 members of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation, and representatives from academia, civil society, and the media, will jointly evaluate the nominees’ contributions and screen suitable candidates to propose to the Board of Directors of the Thailand Foundation, which will make the final decision.
6. Timeline
6.1 Nomination period is open for three months, from the press conference day (April 23, 2026) to July 25, 2026.
6.2 The Sub-committee will conduct its evaluation in August 2026 and submit its recommendation to the Board of Directors of the Thailand Foundation
6.3 The Board of Directors of the Thailand Foundation will make a decision on whoever to be awarded and announce the result in September 2026.
6.4 The award ceremony will be held in November or December 2026, as deemed appropriate by the recipients, the Ministry, and the Thailand Foundation.
7. Reservation of Rights
The decision (of the Board of the Thailand Foundation) is final. Only the names of award laureates will be announced. If a laureate subsequently demonstrates inappropriate conduct, the Board of the Thailand Foundation reserves the right to remove their name from the trophy and the honor plaque displayed at the Ministry.
