The Recipients of the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2024 (TPDA2024)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation are pleased to announce that on 17 September 2024, the Thailand Foundation Board of Committee has unanimously agreed to present the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2024 (TPDA2024) to Phra Phrompacharayanmuni (Ajahn Jayasaro), Mr. Somtow Sucharitkul, and The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage, making a total of three awards being given.
1. Phra Ajahn Jayasaro
A revered monk who has played a significant and rigorous role in making the essence of Thai Theravada Buddhism known to the world, while promoting an international appreciation of Thai identity, culture, and spiritual values.
2. Somtow Sucharitkul
A National Artist, composer, and writer, whose renowned works have been globally admired and helped promote Thai characteristics for decades.
3.The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage
An organization whose compendium of works on Thai art, culture, archaeology, and history has been serving as a bridge to foster friendships between Thai people and various cultures for over 120 years.
The Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award was jointly established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation, in order to:
(1) Honor individuals, groups, or organizations, whether Thai or foreign, who have significantly enhanced the reputation, prestige, and positive image of Thailand, Thai people, and Thainess on an international level.
(2) Inspire these recipients to continue their valuable contributions.
(3) Raise public awareness that anyone can play a role in advancing Thailand’s public diplomacy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation wishes to thank everyone who participated in submitting nominations for the TPDA2024. The award ceremony will be held in December 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the time and details will be announced later).
