The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Thailand Foundation launched the Thailand Public Diplomacy Award 2025 (TPDA 2025) Project
On 23 April 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation jointly hold a press conference to launch the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2025 (TPDA2025) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The press conference was conducted by Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General of the Department of Information and the Ministry’s Spokesperson, and Ambassador Tharit Charungvat, Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation.
The Public Diplomacy Award is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation to honor individuals, groups, or organizations, both Thai or foreign nationals, who have made a significant and visible contribution abroad in various fields, thereby promoting Thailand’s image in a creative, dignified, and honorable manner. For the 2025 awards, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation will confer up to three TPDA2025 awards to individuals, groups, or organizations of Thai and/or foreign nationality. Each award consists of five elements: 1) Permanent inscription of the recipient’s name on the “Goodwill” trophy, displayed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 2) Inscription of the recipient’s name on a “Wall of Fame” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 3) A replica trophy bearing the recipient’s name, to be given to the recipient; 4) Certificate of recognition and; 5) Cash prize of 300,000 Baht per award.

The project has now entered its fourth consecutive year and has presented a total of five awards. In 2022, the award was given to Dr. Soontorn Antarasena, who led a mobile medical unit project that provided services in more than 70 cities across 7 countries for over 30 years. In 2023, the group of two recipients were Ms. Ariya “Pro May” Jutanugarn and Ms. Moriya “Pro Mo” Jutanugarn, who brought international recognition to Thailand in the world of women’s golf and have inspired young people for more than a decade. In 2024, the award was presented to 1) Phra Brahmapatcharayannamuni (Ajahn Jayasaro), who has continuously promoted Thai Theravada Buddhism abroad for over 44 years. 2) the Siam Society Under Royal Patronage, an organization that has played a vital role in promoting knowledge of Thai art, culture, archaeology, and history, as well as fostering international relations through cultural activities for 120 years and 3) Mr. Somtow Sucharitkul, a National Artist, was recognized for his internationally acclaimed classical music compositions and his authorship of nearly 100 English-language books, which have helped share Thai culture and perspectives on the global stage for more than 50 years.
The selection of the 2025 awardees will be conducted by a subcommittee, comprising 10 members of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation, and representatives from academia, civil society, and the media, will jointly evaluate the nominees’ contributions and screen suitable candidates to propose to the Thailand Foundation Committee, which will make the final decision.

The public is invited to nominate individuals, groups, or organizations for the Thailand’s Public Diplomacy Award 2025. Nomination period is open from 23 April to 25 July 2025. The nomination form is provided below.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation will announce the awardees in September 2025, with the award ceremony scheduled to take place later in the year.
