Thai Women in Late Ayutthaya Style Paintings

Many historical documents were lost during the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, the old capital of the Thai people. Thus, it is hard for scholar to study gender relations or the position of women in the old capital. One way that has proven useful, however, is to study the roles of women through depictions in surviving temple murals from the era.
We take you to examine the history of Thai women, as depicted in the splendid murals of the Late Ayutthaya Period.
